To update this package using a newer version of "buildroot"
(very few people will want to do this, and if you're not sure,
you're not one of them):

- Grab a "buildroot" release or snapshot, update the text on the
next lines. This buildroot version is from:
  http://buildroot.uclibc.org/downloads/snapshots/buildroot-20050730.tar.bz2

- Configure and install it with "make menuconfig" and "make" in
buildroot/ to somewhere with a distinct installation path
  (greppable, i.e. not "/tmp").
(No separate "make install" required; "make" performs the install).

- Update the date below:
First build (downloading the rest of the sources) started
  about: "Jan 02 2006 11:00".

- Verify that the build-time temporary directories match the temporary
  directories removed removed in install-arm-tools.
  Possibly update install-arm-tools.

- Remove those temporary directories.

- Execute:
   find buildroot -exec sh -c "file {} | grep -q 'ELF '" ';' -exec rm {} ';' -print
to remove all objects and executables. (It's ok to assume all
object files are in the ELF format for the development builds.)
In practice, there should only be executables in the package/config
  directory.

- (The cleanup.sh script can be used to perform the two aformentioned tasks).

- Verify, possibly update, the sed patching done in
install-arm-tools for $installroot . (Grep all of buildroot/ for the
location where you installed it, and check that it's covered
  by the patching.)

- Update the version number in install-arm-tools and
  patches/gcc-axisversion1.patch.

- Save buildroot/ and the previous installed tree somewhere,
  like tarring them up temporarily.

- Now rebuild the updated buildroot using install-arm-tools.
Preferrably also do this on another architecture and host than
the "original" rebuild, once build works.

- If the build failed because some patch from the "patches"
directory didn't apply, check that build now works without the
patch where it used to fail with that patch, and either
remove the patch or update it accordingly.

- Check for successful installation comparing against the
copy of the previously installed tree.

- Check that no sources are downloaded this time by checking
that there's no file "badlog" above buildroot/ and by
comparing the buildroot/ contents against the saved, previous
  one.

- Tar up everything with the new version number suffixed.
