NOTE: These instructions assume that an array has been selected and that the Array window and explorer tree are currently displayed. If needed, see the Managing Arrays help page for instructions. |
Command devices are logical units that function as the interface between arrays and CCI running on hosts. They are used to allow control from a connected host system when replication storage features are enabled.
To execute CCI commands that need access to an array, you must first assign command device(s) in the array and make it accessible from the hosts.
In the Explorer tree, select Command Devices. The Command Devices window is displayed.
In the Command Devices window, click Add Command Devices. The Add Command Device window is displayed. The window contains two list boxes:
Assignable Logical Unit(s) - This list box contains a list of the LUNs that exist in the selected array.
To be Assigned Command Devices - This list box contains the list of logical units that are assigned as command devices.
Select one or more logical units in the Assignable Logical Unit list by clicking the (es) to the left of the logical unit name(s).
Click Add> to move the list of selected names to the To be assigned Command Devices window.
Click OK to save the changes. A message box indicating that the selected logical units are assigned as command devices is displayed.
Click Close to close the dialog box and return to the Command Devices window. The list of commanded devices that you just added should now be displayed in the window.
