This help page is part of the set of help pages for remote replication. It provides information to guide you through the procedure to add the remote port CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol) security information to the path connecting the local array to the remote array. This help page includes the following topics:
CHAP is a security mechanism that one entity uses to verify the identity of another entity. In this case, when the local array tries to connect (handshake) to the remote array via the designated path, the remote port verifies that the local array has the proper credentials (the CHAP secret) to connect to it. Adding the remote port CHAP to a path tells Navigator 2 what the CHAP security settings are on the port on the remote array. This allows the local array to connect to the remote array via the path to the port on the remote array.
To add a remote port CHAP:
In the Arrays tree, click Replication > Remote Replication > Setup > Remote Path. The Remote Path window is displayed.
In the Remote Path window, select the Remote Port CHAP tab.
In the Remote Port CHAP tab, click Add Remote Port CHAP. The Add Remote Port CHAP dialog box is displayed.
In the Add Remote Port CHAP dialog box:
Enter the local array ID.
In the Remote Path 0 box, enter the CHAP secret in both fields
In the Remote Path 1 box, enter the CHAP secret in both fields
Click OK to save the setting and continue, or Cancel to exit without creating a remote CHAP port. The dialog box closes and returns to the Remote Port CHAP window. The Remote Port CHAP should be displayed.
