Updating
the SystemThis help page describes the firmware that is installed on your Hitachi SMS or AMS arrays and provides brief information to guide you through the procedure to update the firmware that is installed on the controller(s). It contains the following topics:
The firmware controls all operating features of the array. Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) adds functionality to the firmware and fixes problems as needed. It also provides the updated version of the firmware on the support portal on the HDS support site.
The following steps describe the basic procedure to update the firmware in the array: Refer to the Updating the Firmware help page for detailed instructions.
In the Arrays window, select the array whose firmware you want to update, and click Show and Configure Array, or double click the name of the array. The Array window and the Explorer tree are displayed.
In the Explorer tree, expand the Settings menu and in the menu, select Firmware. The Firmware window is displayed.
Look in the Firmware area of the window and note the revision of the currently installed firmware.
Visit the support portal on the HDS website and locate the firmware for the model of the array you are updating.
Compare the version number of the file on the website with the version number of the currently installed firmware.
If the file on the website is newer than the installed version, download the firmware file to your storage array or to the management console.
In the Explorer tree, select Settings > Firmware. The Firmware window is displayed.
Click Update Firmware. The Update Firmware dialog box is displayed. The dialog box includes two tabs: Basic and Advanced. Change the settings as needed on these tabs and click OK to update the firmware .
