This help page provides information to guide you through the procedure for splitting a replication pair. It contains the following topics:
Overview
Splitting a Pair
Data is copied to an S-VOL at every update cycle until a pair is split.
When the split is executed, all differential data accumulated in the local array is updated to the S-VOL
After the split operation, write updates continue to the P-VOL but not to the S-VOL
After the Split Pair operation:
S-VOL data is consistent with the P-VOL data at the time of the split. The S-VOL can receive read/write instructions
The TrueCopy pair can be made identical again by re-synchronizing from the primary-to-secondary or secondary-to-primary
The pair must be in Paired status. The time required to split the pair depends on the amount of data that must be copied first to bring the S-VOL in line with the current P-VOL.
To split a pair:
Select the desired array in Navigator 2 and click Show & Configure Array.
From the Replication tree, click Remote Replication. The Pairs window is displayed.
Select the pair you want to split.
Click Split Pair.
Choose the desired accessibility option for the S-VOL from the drop-down menu:
Read/Write -- The S-VOL can be written to after the split is completed
Read Only -- The S-VOL cannot be written to after the split is completed
Click OK.
