TrueCopy Extended Distance Wizard
This help page provides information to guide you through
the procedure to configure the TrueCopy
The TrueCopy Extended Distance wizard can help guide you through the steps to create TrueCopy Extended Distance pairs to recover data from a local AMS array to a remote AMS array. The process includes establishing a path between a local array and a remote array and then configuring the remote array to match the local array. The data from the local array is then copied asynchronously across the path to the remote array.
|
|
NOTE: Because copies of data are made asynchronously, data on the remote array's secondary volume (called an S-VOL) may be older than the data on the local array's primary volume (called a P-VOL) at the copy source. |
You must complete the following tasks for both the local and remote arrays before using this wizard:
On the local AMS array:
Install the TrueCopy Extended Distance license key. The key code and the file are available from the HDS support portal. See related links at the bottom of this page for more information.
Create at least two Data Pools, each with a minimum size of 100 GB or more. See related links at the bottom of this page for more information.
On the remote AMS array:
Install the TrueCopy Extended Distance license key.
Create at least two Data Pools (pool number is 62 and 63), each with a minimum size of 100 GB or more.
Create an identical set of logical units on the remote array as exist on the local array. Ensure that they are the same size and have the same LUNs assigned to them.
Confirm the remote array ID and IP addresses for both port 0B and port 1B.
The TrueCopy Extended Distance setup wizard guides you through the following tasks:
Introduction > Setting up a Remote Path > Setting Up Logical Units > Confirm > Finish
|
|
NOTE: The settings you make on the screens in this wizard are not saved until you complete the wizard settings and select Confirm on the Confirm screen in this wizard. |
The first screen in the TrueCopy Extended Distance setup wizard provides a description of what the wizard does and lists the prerequisites as described above. If you have completed the prerequisite tasks, click Next> to continue. The Set Up Remote Path screen is displayed.
To set up a Remote Path, enter the following remote path information:
Obtain the ID and the IP addresses of ports 0B and 1B for the remote array.
In the Array List Window, click the name of the remote array. The Array Window for the remote array is displayed. The Array ID and IP addresses are displayed in the Summary Area of the Array Window.
Enter the ID of the remote array in the Remote array ID field.
Enter the IP address of port 0B in the remote array in the Remote IP address 0 field. This field is only displayed to select an iSCSI port.
Enter the IP address of port 1B in the remote array in the Remote IP address 1 field. This field is only displayed to select an iSCSI port.
Click Next> to continue. The Set Up Logical Units screen is displayed.

|
NOTE: If you want to change settings of the remote path, click Cancel to close this wizard, and set the remote path on Settings of remote path screen. Then restart this wizard. See the page Settings of remote path. |
This screen displays a table listing the existing logical units (LUs) on the local array. It is used to designate the LUs to be copied from the local array to the remote array. Use this window as follows:
In the table, click the to the left of the name of the logic unit that you want to copy to the remote array.
Click Next> to continue. The confirmation screen is displayed.
The Confirm screen shows the TrueCopy Extended Distance settings that you have just made.
