This help system is an information resource that is intended for system integrators, technology consultants, system architects, and capacity planners, and others who use Navigator 2 to perform tasks to implement a tiered storage solution to manage the data lifecycle. It is also intended for system administrators who require configuration, user management, and troubleshooting assistance.

To successfully use Navigator 2, Hitachi Data Systems recommends that you have the following knowledge:

Windows® management functions
Storage Area Networks (SAN) and possibly Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Data processing and peripheral storage device subsystems and their functions

Navigator 2 Overview (Back to Top)

Navigator 2 consists of a GUI and underlying software that is used to configure and manage the storage functions on the Hitachi Simple Modular Storage Array. The general features and capabilities of Navigator 2 are described in the help page titled Introducing Storage Navigator.

The GUI is described in a separate help topic, Using the Navigator 2 GUI. The easiest way to begin using Navigator 2 to set up an array is by following the instructions on the Getting Started help page.
