following to insure smooth operation -

1. After installing Sygate Personal Firewall, open DirecPC.

2. When the Sygate Personal Firewall pop-up message asks if you wish
to allow DirecPC access to your network, place a check in the
"Remember my answer and don't ask me again for this application"
check box and click "Yes".

3. Close DirecPC and open again.

5. KNOWN ISSUES
====================================

The following are known issues with this version of Sygate Firewall
Firewall 5.5. They will be addressed or fixed in later versions of
this product:

* Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5 is not compatible with PGP Desktop Server 7.1.

* Sygate Personal Firewall is not compatible with the BlackIce Agent.

* Logging onto domain servers may take longer (up to 2 to 3 minutes)
if LDAP and ICMP are not allowed.

* Sygate Personal Firewall may cause the system to freeze when user tries to log
on to a domain, if the host system has IPX installed and it is configured to
ask or if the Kernel file has changed and it is configured to ask.

* The Sygate Personal Firewall may continue to prompt user to allow
DNS traffic even when the "Smart DNS" feature is enabled.

* The user may get frequent prompts while using the Internet Browser even
when "Auto Allow Known DLLs" is enabled, if the DLL authentication feature is
  enabled.

* The "Block Traffic When Service Is Not running" selection may prevent the
host PC from receiving an IP address from the DHCP server if the accompanying
feature "Allow initial traffic" is turned off.

* Sygate Personal Firewall does not support the Windows XP fast user switch
  feature.

* Sygate Personal Firewall user interface cannot be seen from the Windows 2000
  Terminal services client.

* When the user double clicks on the Sygate Personal Firewall system tray icon, it
will launch the log viewer instead of the main user interface if there
are pending security events in the log system.

* Sygate Personal Firewall may prevent Windows 95, 98 and ME from going into
hibernation or standby mode automatically, if the firewall displays frequent
  pop-ups.

* Sygate Personal Firewall will prevent activation of the screensaver on
Windows 95, 98 and ME, if the firewall displays frequent pop-ups.

* Sygate Personal Firewall Help may not list any available printers when you
  attempt to print.

* Stealth Mode Browsing may cause some Web pages to not display properly.

* If you install Panda and turn on its "Internet scan", Panda will scan all
Internet traffic. As a result, you may see CPU usage by Sygate Personal
Firewall to be as much as 90% +, depending on the traffic.

* If you are using the Intel, Aurorean & Nortel VPN with Sygate Personal
Firewall, you must configure the firewall to allow the above VPN drivers,
or disable the "driver level protection" feature on the firewall in order
for the VPN to function properly.

* When you conduct port scan when Winpopup is used, you will observe that
port 139 is open and the scanner returns the host's computer name.

* With password protected GUI firewall, if you enter an incorrect password
in response to the password dialog box, firewall will pop up a warning about
the attempt. If you leave the warning dialog box open and logoff and
relogin, firewall main GUI will remain in the protected state and you will
not be able to access it until you restart the system.

* On some high performance Network adapters with Hardware Checksum offloading
feature, enabling Anti-IP spoofing on Sygate Personal Firewall and running
applications residing on a Windows Network Neighborhood mapped drive may cause
them to be blocked or frozen by Sygate Personal Firewall.
