AP Replacement Table - Add (requires Level 10 permission)

The AP Replacement Table - Add page allows you to add a Replacement AP.

Note: An AP can only be replaced with an AP of the same model.

The properties of the AP Serial Number (the AP being replaced) will be transferred to the New AP Serial Number upon system reboot. Properties that are transferred include the channel numbers, preambles, and power settings.

To find the MAC address on the AP, check the back. The serial number is on the label below the bar code. Part of the number is the AP MAC address. For example, on an AP320, if the serial number is 0805AP320000CE600017B, the MAC address is the part that follows AP320, that is, 000CE600017B. As input to the AP Serial Number, enter the numbers between the colons in the text boxes (00:0C:E6:00:01:7B).

Once you have double-checked the MAC addresses, take the old APs offline by disconnecting them from the system. Physically replace the APs. When the APs are discovered, the replacement table is checked, and the changes are applied to the new APs. Once the new AP has been updated, the entry is removed from the replacement table.

To add an AP Replacement Table entry:

  1. Enter the MAC address of the AP being replaced in the AP Serial Number boxes.
  2. Enter the MAC address of the new AP in the New AP Serial Number boxes.
  3. Click OK to exit.
