AP Table - Add
(requires Level 10 permission)
Use this page to add access points. Once added, access points are in
the disabled state until they are discovered by the controller.
- In the AP ID box, type a unique numeric identifier for the access point from 0 to
9999.
You must enter an AP ID value.
- In the AP Name box, type the name of the AP.
The AP Name is an alphanumeric string that is 0 to 63 characters long.
You must enter an AP Name.
- These Serial Number boxes are designed to hold the MAC address which is part
of the longer part number on the bottom of an AP. The MAC address is the last 12
numbers.
- In the Location box, type the location of the access point. The location
name is an alphanumeric string that is 0 to 64 characters long.
- In the Building box, optionally type the building the access point is
located in. The building name is an alphanumeric string that is 0 to 64 characters long.
- In the Floor box, optionally type the floor where the access point is located.
The floor name is an alphanumeric string that is 0 to 64 characters long.
- In the Contact box, type the person or organization responsible for the
access point. The contact name is an alphanumeric string from 0 to 64 characters.
- In the LED Mode list, select one of the following: (not
supported for AP150 or OAP180)
- Normal: The LED Mode (Status) light is controlled by the Controller.
- Dark: Dark means that all LED's (except the power LED) are off.
- NodeId: The LED Status light blinks out a repeating sequence. It starts
with a long light, followed by a series of short lights. The number of
short lights is equal to the number of the AP ID modulo 10. Therefore, for
AP IDs 4, 14, and 24, the NodeID mode will blink with a long light followed
by 4 short lights. For AP IDs 7, 17, and 27, the NodeID mode will blink with
a long light followed by 7 short lights. Using this mode will help the
system administrator identify the AP from the other APs in the system. Not
supported on AP300.
??WHAT ABOUT AP1000??
- Blink: Sets all
LEDs flashing; this is useful to locate one AP. The blink sequence is unique for
different AP models.
- In the AP Init Script box, optionally type the name of an initialization
script that the access point runs when booted.
- In the Dataplane Encryption list, for the optional Enterprise Mesh
configuration, select how the AP and Controller pass data packets:
- On: the AP-Controller link is encrypted
- Off: the AP-Controller link is unencrypted (default)
- In the AP Role drop-down list, select the role the AP plays for the
optional Enterprise Mesh configuration,:
- access: Access point is operating as a standard, wired AP.
- wireless: Access Point is part of the Enterprise Mesh configuration,
providing wireless access services to 802.11/bg clients and backhaul services
on the 802.11/a link.
- gateway: Access point is part of the Enterprise Mesh configuration,
providing the link between the wired and wireless service.
- In the Parent AP ID box, for the optional Enterprise Mesh configuration,
specify a numeric identifier from 0-9999. In a mesh configuration, a wireless
AP is directed to look for a signal from a Parent AP, which provides the
wireless AP with its backhaul connectivity. Several APs can be assigned the same
Parent AP ID.
- In the Link Probing Duration box, specify the length of time (from 1 to 32000
minutes) that bridged APs wait before rebooting when the controller link is broken. This
setting is used in Remote AP configurations to prevent AP reboots when the
connectivity to the remote controller is lost. The default is 120.
- Select a Power Supply Type from the drop-down list. Select one of the
following:
- 802.3-af: Default power supply. Select this
when using a traditional PoE. This power supply type supports 2x2 MIMO mode on AP320
and AP1000.
-
802.3-at: Select when using a higher-powered, next generation PoE.
This power supply type supports 3x3 MIMO mode on AP320. It can
also support 2x2 MIMO on AP1000.
-
5V-DC: Select when AP300 is plugged into a wall outlet. This power
supply type supports 3x3 MIMO mode on AP320. It can also
support 2x2 MIMO on AP1000.
-
dual-802.3: Select when using a dongle that combines power from two
traditional PoEs. This power supply type supports 3x3 MIMO mode on
AP320. It can also support 2x2 MIMO on AP1000.
- Select either Indoor or Outdoor type AP. The difference
between configuring Indoor and outdoor is WHAT????
- Click OK.
