Channel Table - Update (requires Level 10 permission)

Use this page to configure the following channel settings.

In the Meru WLAN, all APs on the same channel are given, by default, the same BSSID. Access Points with the same BSSID automatically come together to form a virtual AP for that BSSID. Each virtual AP appears as one and only one AP to every client, and provides the benefits of seamless handoff, load balancing, and optimal client assignment, without ping-ponging.

See the help page for Wireless Interface Configuration for more details.

  1. In the BSSID box, type a unique MAC address for the BSSID.

Specify the BSSID in the following hexadecimal format: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. Channels that have not yet been configured have a value of 00:00:00:00:00:00. For active channels, the BSSID must be a unique nonzero value across your WLAN.

When you change the BSSID on this page, the BSSID for all access points on that channel that do not have overridden BSSIDs themselves is changed. See the help page for Wireless Interface Configuration for more details.

In the Active list, select one of the following:

By default, channel 6 is on, and all other channels are off. The BSSID first entered by the system for channel 6 is set aside for initial configurations. Change the default BSSID on first installation to avoid colliding with neighboring Meru installations. A channel cannot be active unless it has a valid BSSID (must have at least one nonzero byte). A BSSID must not be set to a multicast value: the first byte of the BSSID must be a multiple of two (it must not end in a 1,3,5,7,9,b,d, or f).

  2. After changing the channel settings, click Modify to update the channel table.
