Captive Portal Customization (requires Level 10 permission)

You can customize the login .html page that is presented to Captive Portal users with site-specific graphics and some descriptive text. Other text, such as the login and password functions, should not be changed.

Meru ships a default Captive Portal login page that is used to request a username/password for users to log into the system. As shipped, it includes Meru logo graphics and other text. For deployment at your site, you may wish to replace the Meru logo graphic with a custom company logo, for example.

Customizing Captive Portal Pages

The process to customize the Captive Portal pages are as follows:

  1. Click the Get Files button to download a .tar file of the .html files that can be customized. At the download box, save the files to a convenient location on your system.
  2. In the Mode Selection area, click the Customized radio button.
  3. Click the Change Mode button to change to the Customized mode.
  4. Edit the source text of the .html files to your site specification. Replace links to graphics files with links to your custom graphics. When finished, save your file, using the original name. Make sure the graphics files are located in the area where the html files are located.
  5. Test your changes by viewing the .html files in a browser to make sure they are displaying correctly. Make changes as needed.
  6. You are now ready to import your customized files into the system.
  7. Click the Import File link under the Captive Portal heading in the left navigational pane and follow the directions on the page.

Restoring the Default Settings
