QoS and Firewall Rules By default, six rules are preconfigured in the Meru Wireless LAN System. To update rule information, click Refresh. The following table lists the QoS and Firewall Rule information you can review. ID Unique numeric identifier for the QoS rule Destination IP Destination IP address, in conjunction with a destination subnet mask, used as criteria for matching the QoS rule Destination Netmask Subnet mask for the destination IP address Destination Port Destination TCP or UDP port used as criteria for matching the QoS rule (zero specifies any port) Source IP Source IP address, in conjunction with a destination subnet mask, used as criteria for matching the QoS rule Source Netmask Subnet mask of the source IP address Source Port Source TCP or UDP port used as criteria for matching the QoS rule (zero specifies any port) Network Protocol Network protocol: Determines whether the flow is TCP or UDP 17=UDP 6=TCP If you are using a QoS protocol detector, you must match the network protocol with the type of QoS protocol: UDP: SIP TCP: H.323 TCP: SCCP Firewall Filter ID Specifies the filter-ID in use (per-user or per-ESS), if Per-User Firewall configuration is enabled (optional feature). This ID must be between 1 and 16 characters. Packet Minimum Length Size of the minimum packet length needed to match the rule. Packet Maximum Length Size of the maximum packet length needed to match the rule. QoS Protocol SIP H.323 SCCP Other Action Specifies what the rule does with packets: Forward: A flow is given an explicit resource request, bypassing the QoS protocol detector and regardless of whether a QoS protocol was specified. Capture: The system, using a QoS protocol detector, analyzes the flow for its resource requirements. Drop: The flow is dropped. Drop Policy Identifies what happens to packets that arrive when the queue is full: Head: New packets that arrive after the queue has reached its maximum length are allowed in the queue, and old information in the queue is replaced with the new information. Tail: New packets that arrive after the queue has reached its maximum length are dropped. QoS Rule Logging Specifies whether QoS rule activity logging is off or on. If on, packets that match this rule are logged. If off, packets are not logged. QoS Rule Logging Frequency Specifies the logging interval in which packets related to this rule are updated, if QoS Logging is enabled. The interval must be a number between 30 and 60 seconds. To add rules, click Add (Level 10 required). The Add page appears. To delete rules, follow these steps: Select the checkbox for the rule you want to delete. Click Delete (Level 10 required). To review additional details about rules, follow these steps: Select the checkbox for the rule for which you want to see additional information. Click View Details. The Details page appears.
