Security Rules - Add
(requires Level 10 permission)
Use the Security Rules - Add page to configure security rule
information, such as security mode information, action taken
if the rule is matched, and VLAN association.
To configure security rule parameters:
- In the Security Rule Name box, type the name of the security
rule. The name can be up to 16 alphanumeric characters long
and cannot contain spaces.
- In the Rule Priority box, type the priority of the rule.
The priority is an integer between 1 through 65,535. Rules with
the lowest priority numbers are evaluated first.
- In the L2 Mode list, select one of the following Layer 2
security modes permitted:
- Clear: The Meru WLAN does not require a station to use 802.1x authentication
or encryption. 802.1x authentication and static WEP keys are fully supported in this mode, and
the WLAN secures traffic for those clients.
- 802.1x: Requires 802.11 encryption.
- Static WEP keys: Requires stations to use a static WEP key.
- In the L3 Mode list, select one of the following:
- None: No authentication mode is specified.
- VPN Only: Allows only VPN as authentication method.
- WebAuth: Allows only WebAuth protocol as authentication method.
- All Modes: Allows VPN and WebAuth as authentication methods.
By default, the security mode is set to None.
- In the Security Rule Action list, select one or more of the
following:
- Deny: Traffic from a client matching this security rule
is dropped.
- Forward to Default VLAN: Traffic coming from a client
matching this security rule is accepted.
- Forward to Configured VLAN: Traffic coming from a client
matching this security rule is redirected to a specified VLAN.
- Do one of the following:
- If you selected Deny or Forward to Default VLAN in
step 5, go to step 8.
- If you selected Forward to Configured VLAN in step
5,
go to step 7.
- In the VLAN Name list, select the VLAN to which traffic is forwarded.
Only existing VLANs are listed. You cannot create a VLAN from this page.
- Click OK.
