Station Table - Details

Use this page (Monitor > Devices > All Stations > select a station > View Details) to review connected and associated station information. Click Refresh to see updated station information.

MAC Address MAC address of the station.
IP Address Type Method by which the IP address of the station is assigned:
  • Static IP address assigned: Station uses a static IP address.
  • Dynamic IP address assigned: Station uses a static IP address, which was associated with the station's MAC address in the Meru WLAN. By associating an IP address with a MAC address in the Meru WLAN, no other client can use that IP address, and if the client tries to use another IP address, the client is denied.
  • DHCP: Station uses an IP address assigned by DHCP.
  • Unknown: Station IP address assignment is not yet known; the client has associated with the network, but has not sent any packets.
AP ID Identification number of the access point that the station is associated with.
AP Name Name of the access point.
L2 Security State Layer 2 authentication that can be used:
  • Clear: The WLAN does not require authentication or encryption, and the WLAN does not secure client traffic. This is the default setting.
  • 802.1X: Can provide 802.1X authentication and WEP64 or WEP128 encryption.
  • Static WEP keys: Requires that stations use a WEP key (see step 6).
  • WPA: Requires 802.1X Radius server authentication with one of the EAP types; see step 4 to select a pre-configured Radius server profile.
  • WPA PSK: Uses the TKIP encryption protocol and requires a shared key (see step 11 to enter the shared Key).
  • WPA2: Requires 802.1x Radius server authentication with one of the EAP types (see step 4 to select a pre-configured Radius server profile).
  • WPA2 PSK: Uses the CCMP-AES encryption protocol and requires a pre-shared key (see step 12 to enter the pre-shared key).
  • MIXED: Allows both WPA and WPA2 clients using a single security profile.
  • MIXED PSK: Allows pre-shared key clients to use a single security profile.
L3 Security State Layer 3 authentication that can be used:
  • Clear: No authentication used.
  • Webauth: Webauth used as authentication method for Captive Portal
  • Clear Active:
Authenticated User Name Username used during 802.1X authorization process. (Usernames only appear for clients entering the network using 802.1X authorization.)
Tag  VLAN tag number that this station is automatically assigned, if so configured.
RF Band The radio band of the AP that the station uses.
Client IP IP address assigned to the station.

The IP address can appear as 0.0.0.0 in the following situations:

  • Client with static IP address: After a client has associated with an access point, but before the client has sent its first packet. After the first packet is sent, the client IP address and address type appears on the Station Table page.
  • Client with IP address assigned by DHCP: After a client has sent a DHCP request, but before the DHCP server responds. After the DHCP server responds, the client IP address and address type appears on the Station Table page.
If a station remains inactive for 30 minutes, it is disconnected from the WLAN.
