UPS
2.8.1
Feature Description
The OpenScape 4000 platform runs on the Linux operating system as a set of virtual machines. Support for standard UPS control commands is provided in the OpenScape 4000 system in order to increase OpenScape 4000 system protection in case of the general failure of the power supply and to ensure the restarting of the system following restoration of the power supply.
Every node receives the same information from the UPS: whether the UPS is running on mains or rechargeable batteries, how long the current power load can be supported by the rechargeable batteries, and so on. Every node checks this information against the entries in its configuration file and decides whether or not to shut down.
The UPS is the controlling entity for the OpenScape 4000. During UPS operation the remaining power is received by the OpenScape 4000 and dependant on timer configuration, the OpenScape 4000 will begin to shutdown. For initial implementation, the criterion for shutting down is that the rechargeable battery capacity for supplying the load is less than 20 minutes.
Any startup of the OpenScape 4000 is also subsequently controlled by the UPS which will need to support “Switched Outlet Groups” or similar product terminology.
Depending on the configuration of your UPS it could be necessary to switch of the power of every output to get the system up again if the power from the network is back again.
For more information please refer to the user manual of you UPS.
