4.2.3.4 Installing the Recovery Hard Disk

IMPORTANT:  Recovery HD should only be used in case of total system (all harddisk from both nodes are defective) failure! If the system is running from node A using a Recovery HD the second node (node B) must be reinstalled via Node Replacement. It´s not allowed/supported to startup the second node with any old data basis (harddisk).

Since HiPath 4000 V6 R2.15 a successfully created recovery HD will be marked with a special flag.
The OpenScape 4000 platform checks for this flag during each startup. In case the platform recognizes this flag, then a check is performed for a 2nd available node (“active status”). If there is no “active” node the startup continues as usual and the special flag will be removed. If there is an “active” node however, the startup of the affected node is prevented and a new LINUX reboot is triggered (this will result in a “startup loop” of the node where the recovery HD is used as long as the partner node is active). Once the system is fully recovered and both nodes (Duplex) are functional a new Recovery-HD should of course be created.
